From Gaza to Safety in Canada

My name is Arnona Zahavi. I'm an Israeli psychoanalyst and activist for peace and human rights. I have a dear friend and colleague in Gaza who, together with his wife and 6 children, are uprooted from their home in Gaza City, holding on to life and dignity from their tent near the beach in Rafah. Please allow my friend to remain anonymous at this point, as our connection, an Israeli Jew and a Palestinian from Gaza, is not safe while the war is going on. We have known each other for two decades, and have collaborated in projects of bringing mental health resources to populations in need.

My friend has a group of sponsors in Canada, who are helping him apply for immigration and work. The Canadian group is headed by Prof. Adele Diamond, University of British Columbia.

The funding will be used to cover the following costs:

Crossing the border to Egypt;

Living expenses for the months it will take for the visa application to go through;

Travel expenses for the family from Egypt to Canada.
