✨ My name is LAFI, a musician from Gaza-Palestine. I’ve been given a rare opportunity: a one- to two-year residency in France through the “Together for Artists from Gaza at Risk” program, as part of the PAUSE initiative, led by Collège de France. It offers safety, support and the chance to continue my music, including a Talent Visa. But I cannot afford the travel and living expenses to get there. I need your help to make this life-changing opportunity a reality.
Who am I?
I was born and raised in Gaza, where daily hardships shaped my art. Since my teens, I’ve used music to express the dreams and struggles of Gaza’s youth. My small room became a studio, my rooftop a stage. I sang about freedom, dignity, and justice—but speaking truth came at a high cost. I was arrested, tortured, and held in solitary confinement multiple times. Even then, I never stopped writing or composing. My story has been documented by Human Rights Watch and covered by the BBC.
Missed opportunities
Over the years, I’ve been invited to international festivals, but the siege in Gaza prevented me from traveling. Most recently, at the “Welcome to the Fringe, Palestine” festival in Edinburgh, my works were showcased, but I could only participate remotely. This grant in France may be my last real chance to break free and pursue my art safely.
Why this campaign matters
Since the war on Gaza began in October 2023, I have been displaced multiple times, losing my home and loved ones. Yet I continued to record music—even among the rubble—and completed a full album telling the story of a generation under siege and bombardment. Music is not just my career—it is my mission. It carries the voices of Gaza’s youth—their struggles, dreams, and humanity—to the world. This grant is not only for me. It’s for Gaza’s story to be heard.
How you can help
Your contribution, no matter how small, can:
• Help me reach safety in France
• Allow me to continue creating music that tells Gaza’s story
• Give me a chance to live with dignity and create without fear
Every donation brings me one step closer to freedom and to keeping my voice alive.
Please donate and share this campaign widely. Together, we can ensure that my voice, and the voices of Gaza’s youth, are heard-not buried under the rubble.
With hope and gratitude,
LAFI
