Hi everyone,
My name is Saadi Shamallakh, and I’m organizing this fundraiser to support my education, with the assistance of my uncle, Ramzy Hassouna, who will be receiving the funds on my behalf. I am originally from Gaza, and due to the recent war, I was forced to leave and am currently living in Cairo, Egypt.
Saadi is a determined young man from Gaza with a deep passion for technology and education. Before the war, he was pursuing his studies and building his skills in computer science, while also volunteering in his community and supporting student initiatives.
After surviving war, displacement, and unimaginable loss, Saadi managed to reach Egypt not as a destination, but as a place of survival. Life here for Palestinians from Gaza, however, is extremely difficult. Without permanent residency or refugee protections, they face:
-Limited access to education
-Restricted employment rights
-Constant legal uncertainty
-Little to no healthcare access
In many ways, Saadi’s life remains suspended, safe from bombs, but unable to truly rebuild.
Now, he has been given a rare and life-changing opportunity: an offer to study Software Engineering at the University of East London. This isn’t just an academic program, it’s a pathway to stability, self-determination, and a future where Saadi can continue his journey to become a software engineer and use his skills to help people in conflict zones and contribute to building the future of technology.
We are raising funds to cover urgent and essential costs, including:
-Visa processing and travel to the UK
-Tuition deposit and first few months of accommodation
-Basic living and study supplies in London
Transparency note for donors and platform review:
-All funds will be spent exclusively on education-related expenses: visa, tuition, accommodation, and basic study/living supplies in London.
-My Story A Student’s Journey from Gaza to Bright Documentation such as admission letters, receipts, and proof of transfer can be provided to confirm the funds are used as intended.
Your donation, no matter how small, will help Saadi begin this new chapter of life rooted in hope, dignity, and purpose. If you’re not in a position to give, please consider sharing this fundraiser with others who might be able to help.
Let’s show Saadi that the world has not forgotten him, and that a brighter future is still possible.
With gratitude,
Saadi Shamallakh
