Raas-Garba is a traditional folk dance originating from Gujarat, India. We dance with wooden sticks called dandiyas and incorporate complex footwork and formations to tell a story using this vibrant and high-energy cultural dance.
This past season, we paved our way to the Raas All-Stars XVII National Championship for the first time in our team's history and were the first all-girls team to ever reach this milestone. We competed at competitions around the country securing one 1st-place and two 3rd-place finishes helping us secure our position for the national championship. For this season, our goal is to put our best foot forward at our competitions and secure a spot at the national championship again. More than this, we want to continue sharing this dance with our community and grow.
Being a competitive dance team, our primary expenses come from the competitions themselves. Your donations will help directly cover individual registration fees and hotel bookings for each member of our team. The remaining contributions will go towards perfecting the rest of our set including costumes and props.
Raas is more than just a dance to us, it’s a celebration of our culture, our sisterhood, and our passion. As an all-girls team making history, we hope to continue breaking barriers and inspiring others. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to sharing our story on stage again. Thank you for believing in us, standing by us, and helping us dance our hearts out.
With love and gratitude,
Raas Ramzat ✨
