From Foster Care to Founder: Help Me Rebuild My Life
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Megon.
I’ve been through a lot—things no child should have to endure, and things no grown woman should still be carrying.
I lost my father when I was 2.
Not to death—but to absence, to trauma, he was a Vietnam Veteran who suffered his own trauma to a world that didn’t have space for a little girl’s needs.
My mother disappeared in waves, sometimes gone, sometimes back with more pain than love.
By the time I was old enough to need safety, I had already learned how to survive without it.
Group homes. Foster care. Emotional abuse. Nights wondering what I did wrong to deserve silence instead of softness.
I picked myself and parented myself. Went to college and got a couple of degrees, and landed a great job that I loved and was good at for more than 10 years in the medical field as an Operations Manager and Executive Assistant, to suddenly have it tugged out from under me in an Aquisition that didn't care about the people, only money. I was devastated, and even now a year later I struggle to find a job because I am either overqualified or there are more than 100 other applicants waiting in line just like me.
But this isn’t just a story of pain—it’s a story of becoming.
Because I didn’t give up.
Even when I was alone, I dreamed.
Even when I was hungry, I created.
Even when I was broken, I began piecing myself back together—with glitter, with grace, and with grit.
Today, I’m rebuilding my life from the ground up.
️ I’m launching a small business called KraftyKindaGirl Tumbler Club, where I create custom tumblers and kits that reflect the light I fought for.
I am redesigning my non-profit that offers blankets to displaced children in shelters and foster homes so they have a piece of security to carry with them on their journey.
I’m writing a memoir to give voice to girls like me—those who were forgotten but not defeated.
And I’m doing my best to make ends meet through Uber Eats, Etsy, and faith—while keeping my head above rising bills and the heavy weight of starting over.
I’m not asking for handouts. I’m asking for a hand to hold while I rise.
Your support—whether it’s a donation, a share, or a prayer—helps me:
Pay down urgent credit card debt
Launch my first tumbler box round
Keep food on the table while I build something real
And continue healing through storytelling, creation, and connection
Buy yarn and supplies for blankets
I don’t want to just survive anymore.
I want to thrive.
If you’ve ever felt unseen… if you’ve ever had to start from scratch… if you believe in the quiet power of resilience—please consider standing beside me.
Your kindness is more than money—it’s momentum.
And that’s all I need to keep going.
With love,
Megon
