Hello everyone,
I'm a freshman in my second term at the University of Oregon and am reaching out at a really hard time financially.
My mother is a single, disabled parent of two; she also cares for a family friend with advanced Alzheimer's disease. She helps as much as she can, but lives on disability payments and is limited in being able to help more with my college expenses. I'm so grateful to have been adopted by my lovely mother. She took both of us in when I was three and my brother was two and a half months old. She sacrificed much of her life in order to raise us. My mom is an inspiring person, and I aspire to be as selfless as she is.
I've done everything I can to secure financial aid, including filling out FAFSA paperwork and applying for loans, grants, and scholarships. Last summer, after graduating from high school (with a 3.7 GPA, taking advanced placement classes, and as a member of the National Honor Society), I spent the summer months working: dog and cat sitting, babysitting, and housesitting in order to pay for my first term at U. of O. But I'm still $5,000 short for this term. If I don't come up with these funds soon, I will have to leave school.
My education means the world to me. I've been passionate about art and design my whole life. That's what I am majoring in, with the plan to work as a interior designer or graphic artist. Please see several samples of my work so far at college. My dream is to spread love and positivity to a world that greatly needs it. I dread asking you for money, but am desperate. I know it's no one's responsibility to fund my education and times are tough for so many people. If all you can do is share my request with others, I would greatly appreciate it. But if you can help me financially, with even a small amount, it would mean everything to me.
Growing up, I faced lots of challenges. I was in and out of foster care and experienced early childhood trauma that led to anxiety and depression later on. I have found peace through art. It's a healing escape that I want to bring more of to the world by furthering my education and entering the field. So I'm asking you for your help. Your generosity will make a world of difference in my life. Thank you so much.
