From Forgotten to Fighting:

I Was Hit, Left to Suffer, Up to be Euthanized – Please Help Me Heal

Hi… my name is Charlie.

For a long time, I have lived outside, as my owners would not let me in nor care for me. Kind neighbors always fed me and showed me love, even through cold winters, heavy rain, and the heat of summer. I learned to trust people… even when life was hard.

Recently, I was hit by a car and my owners left me critically injured, suffering and alone.

I didn’t understand what was happening—I just knew I was in pain.

But someone found me. Someone wanted to help me.

My name is Tara Anne Tyler, and I’m the person who couldn’t walk away from little Charlie.

When we brought him to County of Santa Clara Animal Services Center in San Martin, Ca., we learned he would be euthanized due to the severe extent of his injuries and the cost of care. We begged them to treat him and hold him until we could foster him, knowing he deserved a chance to heal and be loved. They agreed and Charlie survived the holding period, but now we need to get him the care to heal.

This hit close to home for me. Last year, I was struck by a car and suffered multiple traumatic injuries requiring surgeries and a long recovery. My family and friends stepped in selflessly—supporting me so I myself could heal.

We see that same fight and same need in Charlie. He deserves our selfless support too.

Thanks to a generous financial sponsorship from my godmother, Charlie received initial stabilization at VCA Animal Hospital in San Martin ($1,300+). But he is still in pain, and needs further medical care beyond what we can afford.

He has a leg injury and severe jaw and dental trauma, making it difficult to eat and drink. He currently requires pain medications, antibiotics, GI support, and daily IV fluids just to get by.

Despite everything, he’s trying—he can walk, eat small amounts of soft food, and drink a little water.

We need to raise at least $5,000 to cover the next critical phase of his care:

• Dental X-rays and imaging

• Oral/dental specialist consultation

• Surgery and treatment for possible jaw and oral/dental trauma

• Continued medications, supportive care, and follow-up vet care

We stepped in for Charlie because my community stepped in for me. I was saved by my community – Charlie deserves the same.
