I never thought I'd see this day.

When I landed in Philadelphia with my son after a difficult divorce, I didn't know his diagnosis, or how hard it would be for us to recover financially.

I met roadblock after roadblock in receiving care, support, and education for him. Eventually, I had to do it all: I became his teacher and therapist while I wrote through the night to support both of us.

While I got better at my craft and teaching my son, what little there was for him slowly eroded away. Facilities closed, and he aged out of programs.

Just before I completely broke down, I realized I needed to be braver than I'd ever been. I started looking for places for us to thrive.

One false start and many struggles later, I finally have an offer letter. I start working Wednesday, and they expect me to arrive on the West Coast in three weeks.

THREE WEEKS!

I know times are tough, but this is the biggest opportunity I've had in my life. If you can spare a little to change the lives of a young boy and his very determined mama, I'd deeply appreciate it.
