Hello, my name is Barbara Tierney. I’ve made Sarasota my home since 2019, and I’ve built my life and small business here. I never imagined I’d be writing something like this, but life has thrown me a series of challenges I cannot overcome alone.

Recently, a fire broke out in my home when my son left candles unattended. Thankfully, I was not in the house at the time, but the damage has been overwhelming. My son has been struggling with addiction, which has created unsafe and unstable conditions in my home. I’ve pursued legal steps to regain possession, and while a writ of possession has been issued, I now face additional expenses from both the fire and the legal process.

Because of the fire damage and these circumstances, I may also be facing eviction. While I am fortunate to have a temporary place to stay, thanks to a dear friend, I’m also exploring the possibility of relocating to Arizona to be closer to my eldest son. If it comes to that, I’ll need help covering long-distance moving expenses in addition to cleanup, legal, and relocation costs.

How Funds Will Be Used:

Cleanup and damage-related expenses from the fire

Relocation costs and securing a new permanent home if eviction proceeds

Potential long-distance moving costs to Arizona, if relocation becomes necessary

Essential expenses to regain stability and peace of mind

I have always been an independent person, and asking for help is not easy for me. But this is a moment where community support can truly make a difference. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help me take the next step forward.

If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this campaign with others would mean the world to me.

Together, we can transform loss into hope and create a new beginning.

With gratitude,

Barbara Tierney
