From Fighter to Survivor: Help Me Celebrate Beating Cancer!

Hi, my name is Talia, and I am a little warrior from Niš, Serbia. When I was just 7 months old, I was diagnosed with a very rare liver cancer—hepatoblastoma. Only one child in two million gets it, and I was that one. The tumor was growing inside me, and my parents were so scared.

Right away, I was sent to the best children’s hospital in the region, where I started my fight. I went through 4 cycles of chemotherapy, then had surgery to remove the cancer, followed by 2 more chemo cycles. It was a tough battle, but guess what? I WON! By the end of October 2024, I finished my treatment, and now I go for regular checkups to make sure I stay cancer-free.

These months were really hard for my mom and dad. They spent sleepless nights worrying, traveling, and doing everything they could to take care of me. Even though my hospital treatment was free, everything else wasn’t—rent, travel, food, medicine… it all added up to over $18,000.

Now that I am healthy, my family wants to celebrate my victory in three ways:

1) A big celebration on August 27th to finally have the party we missed for my first birthday!

2) Paying off some of the debts my parents had to take on during my treatment.

3) A trip to the seaside, this summer, where we can finally relax and enjoy time together after all the stress and fear.
