From Fearful to Fabulous

Cincinnati Animal CARE’s unofficial mascot, Henry, is retiring and looking for your help as he transitions into his new role as a lovable family dog.

If you adopted, fostered, walked, or snuggled a dog from Cincinnati Animal CARE, you can thank our boy Henry. Since CAC opened, Henry has been working alongside the Behavior and Training Team, assessing the temperaments of the thousands of dogs that come through the door every year. His cool confidence and happy-go-lucky attitude around other dogs helped the team determine the type of home each new dog was looking for. But Henry has struggled to find the right home.

After more than two years spent waiting for an adopter, it’s time for Henry to get the help he needs to finally be the dog so many of us know he can be. In the month that he has been in our care as a foster, he has grown so much (and not just from all of the cheese). But even Henry, an exceptionally rare dog who could keep his spirits up living in a shelter for so long, needs more than just a loving and patient home. He needs in-depth, one-on-one training to resolve his fears and navigate the world beyond the shelter play yard.

Nick Hof of Paws, Look, Listen in Cincinnati has agreed to take on Henry as his newest (and best) recruit. Nick is CPDT-KA and CBCC-KA certified and one of the very best trainers for dogs in need of behavior modification. His intensive training program will give Henry the tools he needs for a new life outside the shelter. The program costs $2700, and we would like your help to make this possible for our boy.

Even if you can only spare a few dollars, it will make a world of difference for Henry. This nearly perfect boy has helped thousands of lost, scared, and homeless dogs come out of their shells at CARE. It’s time for us to help him!
