From Father to Filmmaker: Jairus's Journey

There needs to be more Black directors in Hollywood.

My name is Jairus Cobb. Filmmaking has been a passion of mine since I was a child. I tried to pursue a career in motion picture, but the finances always got in the way. I still used my passion and few resources to make a feature film. I broke into reality TV and made a name for myself, but I always felt film was still my calling in life. My late father always wanted me to keep pursuing my dream of making films. He passed away in February. In January of 2024, I was blessed with a son. Being a father has changed my perspective and made me realize how much I want to fulfill my dream so that I can set an example for him that it's never too late to do what you love.

On September 29th, my journey begins. I have been accepted into Full Sail University where I will enter into an intensive two-year program to learn hands-on techniques and use the latest technology in film to perfect my craft and break into the motion picture industry. It is a full-time curriculum, and I will not have time to work. The cost after my loans is 62k for tuition and another 36k for living expenses. I know I am asking for a lot, but each individual that donates to my campaign will truly be making a dream come true for a person who never had the means to get into film school. When I make my first motion picture, everyone who donated can say they had a hand in making that film. Hollywood needs more diversity, and I have compelling stories to tell. Thank you in advance!
