From Dreams to Reality- 31 years in the making

Hi everyone, my name is Silvia. I’m 32 years old, and I’ve lived in the U.S. since I was 2. For as long as I can remember, my dream has been to travel outside the U.S. But I was never able to, because I legally couldn’t. I grew up always having to be the responsible one—oldest of 3, I’ve been working since I was 14, helping provide for myself so that I can take the burden off my parents, and I’ve been putting my dreams on hold. I’ve always worked multiple jobs to help achieve my short term dreams! I’m a hustler always have been!

I currently help run the family business, I gave up my career as a cosmetologist to help my family.

Last April, I got married and applied for my adjustment of status. After years of uncertainty, I finally received my approval—something I never thought I’d see happen so soon. With this, I now have the chance to visit my family in Mexico, whom I haven’t seen in 31 years. My 94-year-old grandfather is still there, and I haven’t hugged him since he last visited nine years ago. Sadly, I never got to see my other grandfather before he passed away four years ago—I hadn’t seen him since I was 10.

I communicate with my grandpa daily, thru whatsapp thankful for that, I would love nothing more than to hug him one last time.

This trip means everything to me, but the timing has been overwhelming. I’m currently in the process of buying a home, and finances are tight. I’m reaching out to ask for help in making this long-awaited reunion possible. If you’re able to contribute, no amount is too small, anything helps.
