From Dreams to Despair: A Guardian's Cry for Help from Gaza
Donation protected
Dear compassionate friends,
My name is Ayman Ghmari , and I am 30 years old. I write to you today with a heavy heart, from a place that was once my haven, my home. I had big dreams and ambitions, a future that seemed bright and full of promise. My days were filled with laughter, the warmth of family gatherings, and the simple joys of life.

But that life feels like a distant memory now. The war has turned our world upside down. Our once cozy four-story home, spanning 250 square meters, is now a pile of rubble. The streets where the children I care for used to play are now scenes of devastation. The echoes of laughter have been replaced by the sounds of fear and despair.
I have lost three sisters, a niece, and two brothers to this brutal conflict. We couldn’t even bury them because they are in the north of the Strip, and we are now in the south. I am now responsible for 14 people, including children, elderly people, and women. Every day is a struggle for survival. We wake up to the uncertainty of what the day will bring. The children, who once knew only joy and innocence, now tremble in fear. They ask questions I cannot answer, seeking comfort I struggle to provide. The elderly members of our family, who should be living their golden years in peace, are now forgotten and helpless.
I have lost everything—my dreams, my ambitions, and my sense of security. But I cannot bear the thought of losing my family too. Our lives have become a relentless fight against hunger, fear, and hopelessness. We are in desperate need of food, and the dream of a safe shelter seems like an unattainable luxury. But in the face of all this, we cling to the hope that there are kind-hearted souls out there who can help us rebuild our shattered lives.
To give you a clear picture of how your donations will be used:
Travel Expenses: Each person in our family needs between $5,000 to $9,000 to cover the costs of leaving Gaza and reaching safety in Egypt or Jordan. This includes obtaining all necessary travel papers and handling the fluctuating costs due to the current situation. For 14 people, this totals approximately $126,000 to $252,000.
Temporary Housing: We need to secure housing for two months to process our travel applications to any country that will accept us as refugees. This period is critical for ensuring our safety and stability before we can move forward. The cost for renting a suitable house or several rooms is around $2,000 per month for every 4 people. For 14 people, this amounts to approximately $7,000 per month, totaling $14,000 for two months.
Food and Basic Necessities: Due to the blockade, basic materials such as food and water are scarce and expensive. We need approximately $1,000 per month for all 14 members to cover these essentials, adding up to $28,000 over two months.
Given these calculations, the total amount we need to raise is approximately $235,000. This amount is necessary to ensure our safety, provide basic necessities, and help us rebuild our lives away from the constant threat of war.
I humbly ask for your support. Your compassion can be our lifeline. Please, be our hope. Every little bit makes a difference, and your donation can help us find food, safety, and a semblance of the life we once knew. Your generosity can bring back the smiles on the children's faces and give us a chance to rebuild our future.
From the heart of Gaza, we cry out for help. Please, stand with us in our time of need. Donate now to help us survive and rebuild. Thank you for your kindness and support.
