From Diagnosis to recovery: Backing Roxy’s Comeback

In July our lives changed in a half a skip on the hopscotch path. Just a week out from the birthday week, she got the words that you don’t think you’ll hear at this age, malignant invasive ductal carcinoma(grade 2, breast cancer). All those words attached to fear, pain and questions. The whirlwind is more hurricane of tests, visits, plans for surgery, treatment, and healing. She is strong. Brave. Grounded. While the fight seems surreal, it is too real and it comes with emotional and financial weight that add to the challenge. We ask for help for the unknown. We know she’ll step away from work to fully focus on recovery. We don’t know when or for how long. I’m working on the adjustments in health coverage, it will work out. As she recovers, the world we building coming out of this will be a better one. in the meantime, things like missed work, out of pocket medical, transition health insurance, and day to day living while we shift and rebuild…are all things we will overcome. our goal is to help cover 6-9 months of treatments, scans, and follow ups. Insurance premiums or deductibles, living basics while she’s unable to work. A bit of financial safety big or small, helps her fight this cancer with out an extra prick of uncertainty. It gives us time. Breathing room, peace of mind.
