Hello, I’m Debi. On October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa—a Category 5 storm—devastated my hometown communities in Trelawny Parish, Jamaica: Wait-A-Bit, Allsides, Green Town Lime Tree, and Lowe River.
My family’s land in Cockpit Country has been our legacy for generations. For the last seven years, we farmed yams, dasheen, and bananas—our livelihood and our pride. The storm wiped it all out. Roofs were torn away, schools left open to the sky, farms destroyed, power gone across much of the island, and many elders and families are now without shelter, clean water, or food.
I’m blessed to be able to return to the U.S., but many of my neighbors cannot leave. They’re resilient, warm-hearted people who need urgent, practical help right now.
What your donation will do:
- Provide portable generators and fuel so households can restore essential power for lighting, safe cooking, phone charging, and refrigeration for medicines.
- Deliver clean water, nutritious food, and hygiene supplies to elders, children, and displaced families.
- Supply tarps, roofing materials, and basic tools to stabilize homes and begin repairs for farms and schools.
Why this matters now:
- Power may not return for months in some areas.
- Nights are pitch-black, making it unsafe and isolating.
- Farms—our main source of income and food—were destroyed, leaving families without both income and meals.
How funds will be used:
- 40% generators and fuel (serving homes)
- 30% water, food, and hygiene kits
- 20% shelter and repair materials
- 10% transport and coordination
Transparency:
I will post regular updates with photos, receipts, and delivery logs so you can see your impact.
Our goal: $25,000 to support approximately 150 families over the next 60 days.
Your impact:
- $25 provides drinking water for a family for a week.
- $100 helps supply a heavy-duty tarp and fasteners.
- $500 contributes to generator fuel and maintenance for a household.
From the bottom of my heart: Thank you for standing with Trelawny, With Jamaica! One love, one heart—let’s rebuild together.
