Hi, my name is Shatha, and I have been following my dream of becoming a successful Occupational Therapist, just like my father.

From an early age, I worked hard toward my education. I graduated high school with a 3.78 GPA, ranking among the Top 10 students in my city. In university back home, I made the Dean’s List every semester for 3 semesters, maintaining a 3.6 CGPA.

My dedication paid off when I was selected — from applicants all over the world — for a prestigious fully funded exchange program to the US, University of South Dakota. Only 250 students globally were chosen, and I was from the very few from my country. During my exchange semester, I connected with amazing professors, volunteered with the OT department, and participated in meaningful community activities, especially with children — seeing their smiles made every moment worth it.

Due to unexpected and difficult circumstances in my home country, I have stayed here at the US, and now been accepted as a full-time Neuroscience student at USD, with the goal of entering OT school!

Unfortunately, I am currently ineligible for most scholarships due to timing and transfer status, and unable to work due to factors beyond my control, which has delayed my ability to support myself financially. I am hopeful that by the start of the next semester, I will have secured a job to help cover my expenses.

Occupational Therapy teaches us that every individual has the right and ability to engage in meaningful activities that promote health and well-being.

Inspired by this, I believe in taking active responsibility for my own journey—especially now, when my parents, due to challenging circumstances, can only support me emotionally.

Covering my tuition is my responsibility because I am committed to fulfilling my dream and helping others regain their independence and quality of life. This determination fuels my refusal to give up, even when obstacles arise. I ask for your support so I can continue this important journey and one day give back to the community through the principles of OT.

I am reaching out for help to cover my tuition fees for this semester. All $7,300 will be used for my Fall semester tuition fees. Even $10 or $15 can make a difference and bring me closer to my goal of continuing my education and, one day, helping others as an Occupational Therapist.

Thank you for reading my story and for any support you can give — whether through a donation or simply by sharing this link.
