Final Chapter: Fund the Finish
Help Me Complete My PhD Journey
Hi, I’m Taysue Morris a Licensed Professional Counselor, storyteller, and doctoral candidate at The George Washington University. After years of study, sacrifice, and service, I’ve reached the final stretch of my PhD journey.
To officially complete my degree, I must travel ✈️ abroad this fall to conduct the final, and most vital, phase of my dissertation research. Without this in-person fieldwork, I won’t be able to graduate .
I’ve exhausted all other options, and unfortunately, I do not have access to institutional or grant funding to support this last chapter. That’s why I’m reaching out to you, my community, my village, for support.
Why This Research Matters
My dissertation, Healing Through Story, explores how storytelling can be used as a culturally grounded tool for diagnosis, treatment, and emotional healing in underrepresented global communities and beyond.
This work aims to:
Elevate global voices in mental health discourse
Train clinicians in narrative-based approaches
✊ Challenge Western models with culturally responsive care
This isn’t just about earning a degree, it’s about shifting systems, honoring stories, and creating change rooted in cultural truth and community resilience.
