Update!! Thanks to everyone that has given and reached out. You have truly made a difference! We met with an orthopedic surgeon the University of Tn Vet Hospital. This could have been a deformity from birth, but since her quad muscles were so atrophied from being tied up and malnutrition, her kneecaps had no support and are on the side. Both of those will need to be replaced. Our plan is to replace one in September and the other one after Christmas. Each surgery will cost $5000. She will never be completely normal, but close to it and she will have the ability to move and enjoy life. I have all of her medical records, including a CT scan video showing the damage. I would be glad to share that with anyone. My goal is to reach out to as many people with big hearts as possible, plus rescues to see if we can get this girl back to where she needs to be. I’m committed to caring for her for the rest of her life.

Animal control did nothing, and neighbors knew something had to be done. After driving past a home for over a year and seeing a poor dog being tethered to a porch, I had the idea that maybe the people would sell the dog. After multiple visits to the home and a note on the door, I was able to speak with the owners. I bought the dog. Neighbors went above and beyond with support. Within four days, she blossomed! My sweet husband spent hours grooming her and bathing her. She is horribly malnourished, but now getting meals and fresh water. She no longer has to sit out in the sun and has a nice bed to sleep in. She is supposed to be over 100 pounds and only weighs 62 pounds. Yesterday, we went to the vet. It’s not the news we wanted to hear, but we are not giving up hope. She is crippled. The vet is not sure if it is a congenital issue or it stems from abuse. Other than that, she is completely healthy. They have referred us to UT Vet Hospital. She will more than likely need surgery on both legs or will need to be euthanized. As she moves toward a normal weight, her legs will not be able to withstand it. Our vet has estimated the surgery will cost around $10,000. I have no idea how we will afford this. but we are not giving up hope. She’s not even two years old and we are determined to give her the life she deserves. Right now, she knows what it feels like to be loved. Please help if you can.
