My name is Raúl, and I am a physician from Mexico who has spent the past years dedicating his life to medicine, research, and serving patients with the hope of improving healthcare for others.
I was born and raised in Cabo San Lucas, a place many people know as a beautiful destination, but for me it is home. It is where I learned the value of hard work, resilience, and community. Growing up there shaped the person I became and the doctor I aspire to be. From a young age, I understood that education could change the course of a life, and I made it my goal to pursue medicine not only as a career, but as a way to serve others.
The journey has not been easy. Medical training requires years of discipline, sacrifice, and perseverance. There were long nights studying, demanding hospital rotations, and countless moments of uncertainty. But every step reinforced my commitment to continue learning and contributing to the field of medicine.
Recently, something extraordinary happened. I was accepted into a master’s degree program at Harvard Medical School. For me, this opportunity represents much more than studying at one of the world’s leading institutions. It represents the chance to deepen my training in clinical research and public health so that I can contribute to better healthcare solutions and help bring new knowledge back to communities that often remain underrepresented in medical research.
However, opportunities like this also come with a reality: the financial cost is overwhelming. The tuition and living expenses required to study in Boston are far beyond what my family and I can manage on our own.
My mother has always been the person who believed in me the most. She is the one who encouraged me to study, to keep moving forward even when the path felt uncertain, and to believe that opportunities could exist beyond what we could see at the moment. It was also her idea to share this story and create this campaign. Asking for help is not easy, but sometimes pursuing a dream requires the courage to reach out to others.
The funds raised through this campaign will help cover essential expenses related to this opportunity, including tuition, housing, health insurance, and basic living costs during the program in Boston.
Your support would not only help me continue my education at Harvard Medical School. It would help sustain a long-term commitment to medicine, research, and service. My goal is to use this training to contribute to medical research, improve healthcare strategies, and help create opportunities for communities that often do not have a voice in scientific progress.
Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a real difference. If you are able to support or share this campaign, you would be helping transform a personal opportunity into something that can benefit many others in the future.
Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read my story and for being part of this journey.
