Hi friends,

I recently traveled from Oregon to Texas for a live-in caregiving role that I accepted in good faith, believing that housing and income were secure. I used the last of my resources to make the cross-country move, only to arrive and find the situation unsafe and the terms changed. Without housing or work, I’ve done everything I can to stay afloat—moving between Airbnbs, short hotel stays, and now, sleeping in my car.

My car is currently my lifeline—offering mobility, shelter, and appointments—but it needs urgent care to stay reliable.

Thankfully, through my community networks, I’ve been invited into a land stewardship role with John Bush and the Freedom Cells Network in Central Texas. This 14-acre project is part of a decentralized, sovereignty-focused community, where I’ll be caring for gardens, helping lease housing, and supporting renovation to more living spaces. A trial period begins in early December, offering both housing and an aligned way to contribute meaningfully.

I’ve long worked on behalf of community: organizing sovereignty-based gatherings during the pandemic, coordinating disaster relief after Hurricane Helene in North Carolina, and contributing to environmental projects across the U.S.—supporting food systems, soil health, and gardens.

My life has taken me again and again to places where systems are cracking and new ways of living are emerging. I’ve chosen to shift away from conventional paths toward a future grounded in shared purpose and resources.

The goal of $1,400 provides a short bridge of safe lodging and essential car care, supporting my passage into a relocation to a more stable, community-rooted way of living
