My beloved mother, Monica Flores, has just turned 50 and is now facing the toughest fight of her life: Stage 5 kidney failure. A devoted wife to a disabled stroke and open-heart surgery survivor, and a tireless caretaker for our family, Monica has always put others before herself. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.
Despite the pain and fatigue she faces daily, Monica’s strength and love continue to hold our family together. But she cannot fight this battle alone. A kidney transplant is her best hope for a longer, healthier life and we need your help to get her there.
Your support will go directly toward covering transplant-related medical costs, ongoing treatment, and the financial burdens this journey brings. Every donation, big or small, is a step closer to giving Monica the care she has always selflessly given to others.
Please consider donating and sharing her story. Together, we can help give my mommy the second chance she so deeply deserves.
With love and gratitude,
Her Family ❤️
A message from Monica:
My name is Monica Flores, and I am humbly asking for your support during this difficult time in my life. On December 27, 2024, I found myself in an ambulance headed to University Hospital from a doctor's appointment I went to earlier that morning. I noticed some swelling in my feet for a few days which hadn’t gone down. After some labs and a chat with the doctor, she came back in to let me know that I was to head to the ER for further testing in my kidneys. Fast forward a few days later, I was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure and told my kidney function was at 12%. A new chapter in my life was beginning. I was in shock, disbelief, angry, and extremely overwhelmed. A month later, I ended up back in the hospital due to some vision issues, and labs came back with all sorts of abnormalities. I was then told my kidney function was at 9%, and I had entered end-stage renal failure. I had my fistula placed, my kidney function is now at 6%, and I am preparing to begin dialysis in August.
I am praying for a kidney transplant to help prolong my life with my husband and daughter. My husband has suffered from strokes, a heart attack, being paralyzed twice, and underwent an open-heart quadruple bypass. It has been difficult these past few months, but by God's grace and support from family and friends, we’ve been blessed.
University Hospital and their staff have been a blessing to me, and I’m grateful for all of their services. However, they do not cover all costs of my medical bills or my kidney transplant surgery. I know we are all facing difficult times, and we all have a story, but if you could donate any amount towards my journey, I would greatly appreciate it. Even sharing my story with others would be great.
Thank you for listening and sharing my story with others.
Love & blessings!
