From Caregiver to Cancer Fighter – Please Help Me Heal

Hi, my name is Hazel Gan.

For years, I’ve dedicated my life to caring for others as a nurse or carer in the health industry. I’ve held hands through difficult diagnoses, celebrated recoveries, and done my best to bring comfort and strength to my patients in their most vulnerable moments.

Now, I find myself on the other side—and it’s the hardest place I’ve ever been.

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Hearing the words “you have cancer” was devastating. As a nurse, I knew what the road ahead might look like—but nothing truly prepares you when it becomes your reality.

The coming months will be filled with chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and countless hospital visits. I am ready to fight, but I cannot do it alone. The cost of treatment, medication, transportation, and the loss of income from needing to step back from work has placed a heavy financial burden on me.

I’ve always been the one to help. Now, I’m humbly asking for your help.
