From Camel Driver to Tuk-Tuk Driver for Kushal
Donation protected
We are raising funds for Kushal - the camel cart driver whose camel sadly died – to get a tuktuk (motorcycle taxi).
While the caste system was officially abolished, it exists in real life; Kushal’s father cleaned streets and railway stations, collecting plastic to recycle, as did his father. Eventually he was able to buy a camel, earning wages by helping farmers and travelers in the desert. Kushal followed in his footsteps, taking tourists around in the cart pulled by the camel, until a few months ago, despite vet care, the camel died.
Tourists only come to Pushkar when it is not too hot nor too rainy - which it is for most of the year. Now it is well over 100 Farenheit in Pushkar

-- so no tourists for months… and no income…
A tuktuk will allow Kushal to work in all seasons – heat or rain locals use tuktuks all year round.
Kushal will be able to support himself, his wife, widowed mother, and help out his brother, married with two kids, who’s also dependent on seasonal tourist work.
Kushal and his family live in Pushkar, Rajasthan, site of the world's largest camel fair every autumn - an extraordinary, beautiful event and highly recommended. That's where I met Kushal - a sweet, honest young man doing his best to work and thrive in a limited circumstance.
Accomplishing this goal will definitely better the lives of everyone in this family better - and the generations to follow.
