From cage to mountain summit in 6 months

Donation protected
In November 2021 me and my husband packed up the car, our 3 year old and our 6 month old son, and drove 400 miles (9 hours) to central France where we met five amazing survivors of a Hungarian animal testing laboratory…

And obviously we fell in love with them all, and brought a new family member back home with us - enter Bertie, beagle 143!

Bertie had spent two years in a cage and has endured who knows what. But now he is home with us, he is safe, he has siblings (human and feline), and he has a sofa for snoozing on!

When we brought Bertie home, his legs and muscles weren’t great. We would carry him 90% of small walks and he would tire very easily…
In May 2022 we will be taking Bertie to the top of Mount Snowdon.

This is a journey we have been preparing him for with lots and lots of training and we are confident he will make. In addition to taking Bertie up the mountain, we are also taking both children!

Henry (now 4) will walk up and down himself, and Jonah (who will be 12 months at the time of the climb) will be carried by me the entire way.

Why are we doing this?
We would love to raise money for two great associations and are asking for sponsorships - no matter how small - to help us to do this.
The entirety of money raised will be split 50/50 between the two most amazing charities I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with…

The PussyCat Lodge is a local charity extremely close to my heart. The organisation and their huge adoption network has offered us so much support over the last couple of years through some really difficult and tragic events.
We have made amazing friends and contacts through this charity and the support given has been mind blowing.
The PussyCat Lodge is run by an amazing group of volunteers who work tirelessly day in day out. They rescue and rehome some of the saddest and hardest cases, along with feral colonies which is extremely unique for a charity of their kind.
Two of our own kitties were rescued by PCLT, for which we will forever be grateful. We are in awe of the amazing work they do and couldn’t be more excited to be raising money for them.

The Beagles of Burgundy is an association run by the most inspirational people I have ever met. They tirelessly work to convince laboratories globally to release their beagles, rather than terminate them following their testing schedule. They have been responsible for liberating beagles across the world before bringing them back to France for rehabilitation and rehoming. The number of beagles being tested on globally is HUGE and the number freed is small in comparison, however Virginia and her team are gaining momentum and are educating laboratories worldwide that they do not need to put their beagles to sleep. They can be homed. The Beagles of Burgundy have had a successful few years and our hope is that we continue to see more and more beagles handed over to Virginia and the team.

As a family we are passionate about stopping animal testing and raising awareness about this dark and unnecessary practice. We are desperate to see the day of zero animal experiments - worldwide, and are forever hopeful that this will in fact be in our lifetime.

Thank you for reading our little story, we are excited to update you on our journey up Snowdon. x
