From Bullied to Belonging – My Journey to a Better School

Hi, my name is Hannah, and I’m creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my daughter, Keira. She wanted to share her story in her own words:
Hi, my name is Keira and I just turned 11 this month!
I’m a happy, energetic girl who loves crafting and animals — especially cats and anything with glitter. School hasn’t always been the best place for me. I’ve been bullied a lot and it’s been really hard to feel like I belong. I learn differently than other kids, and instead of being supported, I’ve often felt left out or labeled just for being "different."
Even though testing shows I’m considered “gifted,” my grades don’t reflect that because traditional schools just don’t work well for how I learn. I know I’m smart, but it’s hard to show it in a place that doesn’t understand me.
That’s why I’m asking for your help. There’s a private school for gifted kids where I could finally learn in a way that fits me. It would mean the world to me to be in a place where I feel safe, understood, and excited to go to school every day.
My mom is my hero. She’s a single parent and works really hard — doing all kinds of jobs to take care of us. She’s also a type 1 diabetic and has to pay for her insulin and medical costs out of pocket. Because of all this, she can’t afford private school tuition right now, even though I know she wishes she could.
We’ve been through a lot together — sometimes I even go to work with her when there’s no one to watch me. It hasn’t been easy, but we always make the best of things.
If you’re able to help, your donation would go toward:
My private school tuition
Basic school supplies
Giving me a chance to learn in a place that really fits who I am
My mom is doing everything she can to cover the rest. Thank you for reading my story and believing in me.
With love,
Keira
