From Bride-to-Be to Widow

This is supposed to be a newlywed page – but instead it is an end of life page for Jennifer Berry’s fiancé, Chad. Chad was a working carpenter with his own business, but this December, with no prior knowledge that he was sick, Chad, 53, was diagnosed with metastasized cholangiocarcinoma. He had one chemo treatment and his body simply couldn’t handle it; the cancer was too advanced. He declined precipitously, and the decision was made to place him on hospice, less than three weeks after diagnosis. Chad is dying at home right now - in the home that Jen and he had recently created together with her two young daughters and his son. But instead of having a wedding, Jen is having a funeral. Jen is working part time as a Pastor in a small Church, and cannot afford to stay in the house on her own without his income which will soon be gone. Besides the expenses of the end of life care, medical treatments, funeral and lost wages, Jen’s goal is to let her two precious daughters stay in their school district till the end of the school year in June. Jen is devastated  that after being a single mom for many years and then finding the love of her life, that she is now going to be a widow before being a wife. She needs our support to help her transition through the shock and loss of what was to be their shared life together, and to regroup and work out a new plan for her and her daughters’ future. We urge you to contribute whatever you can - no amount is too small to help this family of a mom and young children who are now losing the person who would have been their partner and parent.  We are setting a goal of $50,000 to get them caught up and resettled, but it would be beautiful if we exceed it.

Horrible first update – before we could even post this, Chad has passed – 5 days on hospice, and less than a month from diagnosis. The need to contribute is even more urgent to help Jen and the children in this full blown tragedy. Please consider contributing immediately.
