**Help Da India Curry House Staff Rebuild After Losing Everything in a House Fire**
On May 29, 2026, our staff lives changed in a matter of minutes.
The home at 439 Geary Crescent in Saskatoon, where some of our Da India Curry House staff members had been living for the past two years, was destroyed by a devastating fire.
At the time of the fire, everyone was inside the house. By the grace of God, they all escaped safely and no one was physically injured. Two of them ran out with no shoes on their feet. While they were fortunate to make it out safely, they were left with nothing.
Everything they owned was lost in the fire.
These hardworking individuals came to Canada to build a better future. Through years of hard work and sacrifice, they slowly built their lives here. In a matter of minutes, they lost their passports, degrees, laptops, phones, jewelry, clothing, personal documents, cherished memories, and everything they had accumulated both from back home and during their time in Canada.
Unfortunately, they did not have tenant insurance to cover the loss of their belongings or the cost of temporary accommodation while they search for a new place to live.
As their employer and extended family at Da India Curry House, we immediately stepped in to support them. We have already arranged and paid for temporary Airbnb accommodations, provided clothing, shoes, essential supplies, meals, transportation, and are assisting them with the immediate challenges that come with losing everything overnight.
This fundraiser is not for Da India Curry House. It has been created on behalf of these individuals to help them rebuild their lives. While we will continue supporting them in every way we can, the scale of this loss is far greater than any one person or business can carry alone. The funds raised will go directly toward helping them replace essential belongings, recover important documents, secure longer-term housing, and begin rebuilding after this devastating loss.
We would also like to acknowledge the incredible kindness shown by the Saskatoon community, especially our neighbours in Hampton Village. From the very first moments of this tragedy, people stepped forward with clothing, footwear, offers of accommodation, words of encouragement, and support. The compassion shown by this community has been truly overwhelming, and we are deeply grateful.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will help these individuals take the next step forward. If you are unable to donate, we would sincerely appreciate you sharing this fundraiser with your family, friends, and community.
To everyone who has reached out, offered help, donated clothing, provided temporary shelter, or simply kept these individuals in their thoughts and prayers, thank you. Your kindness reminds us that even in the most difficult moments, community can make all the difference.
Thank you for helping us support these hardworking individuals as they begin the difficult journey of rebuilding what was lost.
With gratitude,
**The Da India Curry House Family*
