From Ashes to Hope: Help Lily & Brad Dyck

Donation protected
Saturday November 23rd, Brad and Lily Dyck experienced a something most of us fear the most, a fire that started in their detached garage that quickly got out of control, and took their car, their trailer, and caused heavy damage to their home.
Thankfully everyone was able to make it out safe, and only endured a small amount of smoke inhalation.
Lily’s parents were visiting, and about to leave just after 8:00pm when they noticed that there was a fire in the garage, they quickly hopped into action and notified Lily, and Brad. Lily grabbed their young son Charlie, and their dog Wilbur, and got into her mom’s car. Her mom drove them out to the road to a safe spot. Lily called 911, as Brad ran into the garage to move his truck out, and some other items quickly, and tried to put the fire out himself. Lily’s dad assisted Brad at the house to save what they could.
The fire quickly ignited the entire garage, then took their camper trailer they had parked next to it. Brad ran around frantically trying to save everything he could, Lily kept calling 911 begging them to hurry as the fire started to spread to the house and had already caught her car on fire as well. The fire department got there just as the fire was spreading into the house. It got into the attic, and they had to run into the house and to blast water into the top of their attic to put the fire out at that part. Lily, her mom, and son sat in the car while her son kept saying “Mommy, my house.”
Six hours, and fourteen fire trucks later the fire was finally out, and the investigation went on till around 3am where the fire department said it was a light in the garage that had caught fire. The garage and everything in it, the trailer, and car are burnt to the ground, the side of their home is completely charred, and the inside of the home is water and smoke damaged due to the fire that was in the attic.
The aftermath is devastating, and all of us are truly heartbroken for them. Thankfully insurance has been out and will help with the costs to replace the items that got taken by the fire, and a short-term accommodation for them to live in as the home is not currently livable. The insurance company will be providing them with storage for the items that are not damaged.
We are asking for donations for the family, to help them as they are sorting out all the details. They will need help with cost of lost wages due to missing work, grocery money, and any costs that aren’t covered by insurance. We’re not sure how long they will be out of their home, or how long it will take to find accommodation.

If anyone knows of any short-term rentals between Kingston and Odessa, ON, please let us know.

Thank you in advance, anything helps, even just sharing this.
