from Alopecia to 'All-That-Thatch'
Hi I'm Toby, hear all about my hair:
We always want what we can't have, and that's especially true when it's comes to our hair. Those blessed with a big thick bushy barnet would love a thin wirey one. Those with a receeding hair line would love for it to come in with the next tide. Many reading this will know I had a spell of Alopecia. I'd never been that bothered about hair until the right for it to grow was taken away from me. Of course, I rolled out the other side and grew the majestic lions mane I swing around the streets today. In recent weeks - from what my hairdresser describes as probably no more than a seasonal shed - hair has started to fall out again. She's probably right (and I'd not pick a fight with her anyway) but I didn't want all that growth to be for nothing. I've been growing this marvellous mop since October 2020 so I decided to donate it to 'Little Princess Trust' who will make it into a wig/wigs for children who lose hair primarily through cancer.
Can we back up for a second. A child, cancer - how does that even come into the same sentence in 2024. The comprehension and understanding of such a diagnosis in a little head for a little person must be unimaginable. The work these guys do to make these kids feel whole again when this wicked disease strips them of their hair is simply magical.
I've done my bit - now I'm asking for your help. I know I've done it all a bit backwards but I didn't want to get to a point where there was little left to give. So I've sent the hair already and will follow it up with a donation. The work Little Princess Trust do is so damn impactful and they can't just do it with envelopes full of hair. So if you'd like to be part of this whole HappyHairHullabaloo then please feel free to make a donation to support this incredible charity.
You're here on the gofundme, read all the story so why not be a part of it? I'll love you a little bit more than I do already
