From Accident to Shelter: Need Your Help

Well, this is the last thing I wanted to do, but I am out of options. After a career of making a lot of money for other people and little for myself, I got knocked down and out. While climbing out of a pretty dark hole, I got knocked on my ass and am short on options and out of resources.

On 6/30 I was in a motorcycle accident. In the middle of a (amicable) divorce, I did something for me and it backfired; I traded some stuff for my first motorcycle. A low-speed fall on my first ride, the foot peg dug into my foot and scrambled my bones. Four out of five metatarsals were dislocated and a midfoot bone was crushed. $121K worth of surgery later, including a bone graft and several pieces of metal in my foot along with a screw, I'm in recovery.

I had just acquired a new job after 6 months of unemployment and my benefits have not kicked in. I was not on Medicaid, and due to the limbo I found myself in, along with the fact that my offgrid living didn't qualify as sufficient for recovery, I have ended up at a homeless(!) shelter since it has ADA facilities.

To compound things, I lent my car to someone I trusted, and he totaled it. No good deed goes unpunished.

I am not sure how I'm going to get out of the predicament I'm in, but I always find a way. Hopefully, with your help, it'll happen sooner than later.

I have always overcome the challenges I have faced and have always provided for my family, but I'm at the end of my rope. Any help is appreciated.

Funds will be used to cover medical bills and rent, a new (used) vehicle, and expenses that both myself and my soon-to-be ex-wife are incurring as it relates to our 3 kids, one of whom is about to go back to college this fall with perfect grades and a position as a student senator after winning a campus election. She wants to be a brain surgeon and I may be her first patient at this rate...
