Hi, my name is Cheryl, and I’m a single mum reaching out with a humble heart.
In April 2026, my daughter has the opportunity to join her school on a two-week trip to Japan—a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The school has estimated costs of around $5,500, with additional expenses like travel insurance, luggage, warm clothes, and shoes also needing to be covered.
I've been doing everything I can to make it happen—saving what I can, applying for better-paying work, and cutting costs—but it’s proving incredibly difficult to raise this amount on a single income while keeping up with everyday bills.
Growing up, I missed out on things like this due to my family’s financial struggles. When I got older and saved for my own travel, it changed my life. I learned how fortunate we are in Australia, and how valuable it is to learn from other cultures. I promised my daughter that if the opportunity ever came up, she would get to go—and I meant it.
Even though life has thrown me curveballs and our financial situation has changed, I am determined to make this trip happen for her. I’ve always been the type to give, volunteer, and help others, so it’s hard to ask for help—but I’m hoping that with a little help from the wider community, we can make this dream a reality.
Thank you so much for reading, sharing, or supporting us in any way.
With gratitude,
Cheryl
