Our friend Beka Hoffman is battling cancer; specifically "adenocarcinoma of Mullerian origin, a rare primary malignancy of the pericardium". Beka has experienced fluid buildup, labored breathing, and fatigue. She maintains a positive attitude despite her challenges and expresses "gratitude for the gift of being alive".

 

Beka spent a week in the hospital in September 2021 and has used various therapies including chemotherapy since then. Unfortunately the tumors have increased in size again.  An out of control heart beat (atrial flutter), caused by a tumor pressing on her heart, and difficulty breathing required another hospitalization in January 2022.

Beka is now being treated with a round of immunotherapy (pembrolizumab) to rev up her immune system. 

 

Beka is a kind, generous, and independent person who needs financial assistance. She is not able to work and her unexpected medical expenses only add to her financial needs. The goal of this fundraiser is to replace Beka's income, to cover the maximum out of pocket limit of her insurance, and cover other miscellaneous needs related to her treatment for one year. Having these funds will allow Beka to focus on her health instead of her accumulating debt.
