Frodo and Luna's Big Adventure!
Donation protected

Meet Frodo and Luna, two stray dogs currently living on the streets of Dalyan, Turkey! This summer, my family and I stayed at a hotel in Dalyan where we met these two wonderful animals. It was evident that they were both young strays, yet both had the sweetest, most loving and trusting nature that you could imagine. Over the course of our 10 day stay, both Luna and Frodo frequently slept outside the door to my hotel room, accompanied us to and from the town, and came bounding over happily whenever they saw us. We grew exceptionally fond of the duo, and we would love nothing more than to offer them a safe and loving home.
Unfortunately, this is an extremely expensive and lengthy process. The four month quarantine alone will cost £1000+, and transport around another £1000 each. This doesn’t account for the vets bills for vaccinations, tests, and any other expenses that will quickly add up as we move through this process. As much as we would love to be able to, we just don’t have the means to do this on our own.
Any amount at all would be deeply appreciated to help offset some of the costs, and to help Frodo and Luna on their big adventure to their forever home!
UPDATE!
We are now 10% of the way there with our GoFundMe goal! Thank you all so much for all of your generosity so far!
The wonderful Diedre has been sending me some lovely new photos of Frodo and Luna as she is over there now, so I've added a couple so we can all enjoy them! We also have some more information on how Frodo came to live on the street, and it is heartbreaking:
Frodo was dumped at the old market square one day. He was very frightened and attached himself to Connie, another street dog who now lives in Aberdeen! The incredible street feeder team had to walk right away before he'd come close enough to eat the food they would put down for him, even though he was skinny and starving. When Connie was spayed he started roaming further and grew in confidence. He loves people and is a very clever friendly sociable dog!
We know far less about Luna, she only appeared on the street a few weeks ago. We do know that she is very young, our best guess is 6 or 7 months old. She is an Anatolian Shepherd, a popular guardian dog in Turkey, but she doesn't have the right qualities that people look for in a guardian dog - she rolls right over when another dog or person approaches her! It seems likely that her previous owner realised this, and decided that she wasn't worth keeping and put her out on the street!
We are currently trying to secure a foster placement for the quarantine period, which will cost around £125 per dog, per month. So far we will be able to cover the first month with your donations!
Please share far and wide! The more people we reach, the more chance we have of being able to bring these two sweethearts home! X
