Nemo's vet bills
Nemo is a 12 year-old cat.
Nemo has a bit of a long story to him. To start with, back in June '22, he had an upper respiratory infection and went to the vet. During some routine blood checks we found out he was diabetic.
We subsequently began treating him with insulin. He was doing quite well for some time. The only hiccup being an ear infection in late October.
Nov 25th, he went into a hypoglycemic shock. He had a seizure and nearly went into a coma. He was hospitalized for three days. It turns out he went into spontaneous diabetic remission. Which is great news!! But as with all things in life... there is a downside.
He has a massive nasal polyp that has become inflamed. We need a CT scan to find out if it can be removed. If it can be the surgery will be expensive. We don't have solid numbers for these future options yet.
We're on the clock on this because he's lost 6 pounds. He still has some fat on him, but it won't last. It's very difficult for him to eat and drink, and it's impacted his balance badly. He can't keep living like this.
We're tentatively setting the goal at $2200 because, from what we understand, that's the average cost for a CT scan on a cat. We'll update the goal as more information becomes available.
