Hello, and thank you for visiting our GoFundMe site!
As many of you know, I have led youth pilgrimages to Europe since 1998. I have seen the changes that occur in a young person’s life when they travel a great distance on a journey of faith, when they encounter places that are holy, when they see the universal reality of the Catholic faith, when they meet with other young Catholics from all over the world in a setting that deeply underscores the reality of God and reinforces his love for us. The teens and twentysomethings I have travelled with over the years inevitably come back with a deeper appreciation of the importance of their faith and a renewed commitment to understanding it and practicing it.
The two pilgrimages I am planning at present are toYouth Festival in Medjugorje, this August and World Youth Day in Poland, July, 2016. Youth Festival happens annually in Medjugorje, drawing crowds of close to 100,000 from six continents. World Youth Day happens every three years. The last one, in Rio de Janeiro in 2013, drew almost four million young people from around the world. These trips are joyful and faith-filled adventures for our young, and their effects are long-lasting. Any effort made to assist our young people will be well-repaid, in the strengthening of their faith, but also by the Lord, who, I am sure, smiles to see so many, many young Catholics gathered in one place to celebrate Mass, attend Adoration, hear inspirational speakers, go to confession, and just generally experience their faith at a whole new level of meaning and understanding.
I am organizing a large youth trip to Medjugorje for this August. The cost of the trip is a little over three thousand and my young people need help to make it happen. We have organized a number of fundraisers, but they are mostly local. This site makes it easy for those who do not live nearby to make a contribution to our efforts. We are grateful for any help you can give!
I hope you enjoy looking through the site, seeing some of the photos from great youth trips past, and “meeting” some of the wonderful young people who hope to travel to Youth Festival/Medjugorje with me, in August.
