On 12/23/2016, Tim Hayes suffered a massive stroke . Previously the picture of health, the doctors informed his family that the stroke was fatal, that if he survived the night he'd never breath on his own or move and they were encouraging the family to remove life support measures.
Tim's brother, Hugh, who had rushed here from Charleston, S.C., informed the medical facility that any decision regarding the removal of life supporting measures would be determined once Tim’s other brother and sisters arrived. That was the break Tim needed. He proved the doctors wrong and began to breathe on his own.
Since that time, Tim has been responding to requests to move his fingers and toes, raise his eyebrows and to open his mouth. He's even rewarded his brothers with a few smiles. As a result of this activity, he was removed from a ventilator, which he was not using, and supplied with a trachea tube and a peg line for nutrition. He has also stabilized enough to be moved from ICU to a step down unit. The progress Tim has made so far shows that he is still in there and is fighting to get out.
Tim faces months of recovery and rehab. Needless to say, his medical bills will be and are overwhelming, while at the same time, his household expenses and other financial obligations are ongoing. At this time, it is impossible to predict when, or if, he will be able to return to work to bring in income to take care of all these financial obligations – the bills do not stop when there is a tragedy. This is why we are asking for your help.
We asked for your blessings and prayers and you responded. We are now asking you for your financial assistance. If you are moved to spare even the smallest amount to support Tim and his recovery, we all would be so grateful. Funds received will be managed by Tim's brother, Marcus, who is an attorney and is working to be designated as Tim’s legal guardian. All funds will go toward Tim's care and expenses.
The outpouring of love and prayers for Tim have been overwhelming and humbling. Thank you for your support. <3<3
