Friends of CAPA is a 501c3 run by parents of CAPA students. The mission of Friends of CAPA is to support every student with the provisions needed to excel in the school's superior quality arts education experience. We encourage excellence and success in their personal development as artists and cultural leaders, and academics. Friends of CAPA works arduously to secure funding, resources, and materials needed to support our students, teachers, staff, and facilities in realizing the goals of our remarkable and culturally important school.
All donations made to FoC go directly back to the students!
CAPA has proven to be our region’s premier creative and performing arts school and serves over 950 students from all neighborhoods in Pittsburgh. In the 2013 US News & Report of Best High Schools, CAPA was ranked 16th among all Pennsylvania schools, and our school's excellence was highlighted given our dedicated faculty, rigorous academic environment, and reputation in the arts community. CAPA is a gem in Pittsburgh and has opened many doors for our talented students. However, drastic cuts in educational funding impactfully challenge our school's ability to maintain adequate resources for our students. Given the diversity of our students' studies, much funding is required to maintain our theater, media, and production technologies, and to ensure that every student has access to instruments, resources, and external faculty that help to ensure their success. Donations are the primary means by which our children continue to have access to necessary resources and materials.
