Help Yoka’s Hospital Recovery

Donation protected
As many of you know now, on Feb 2nd, our friend Yoka Yohanna suffered a solo car collision that totaled her car, trapping her in it with extensive fractures —

Here is Yoka’s story in her own words:

I was out running errands and was on my way home from Home Goods, and suffered a blackout due to an unknown heart situation at the time. Before I blacked out, the only thing I remember from the accident was seeing the tree that I collided with that evening. I am so grateful that no one else was involved in the accident. It was devastating to hear the news from my doctor as she worked with me in the ICU. She said my legs were broken into a million pieces. I was thinking, "Does that news come with whipped cream and cherries?"

My healing opportunities include:

Right leg, shattered, too many fractures to count

Left leg, several large fractures

Broken ribs

Broken Ankle
Broken sternum

Various cuts with stitches throughout my hands

The car was totaled, and they may have taken me out with the Jaws of Life.

I was in the ICU for days, then got moved to another room, where I stayed, awaiting to be transferred to a different hospital that had a doctor who was better equipped to handle my extensive needs. The surgery was eight hours. I was there for maybe five days and then transported back to the first hospital for a window of time before they moved me to a full-time PT care facility in Sherman Oaks, where I will be in recovery for six months or so.

I am so grateful to be alive and to have my own two legs! You can be certain that I will find that tree, embrace it, and thank it for saving my life. I am so blessed to be surrounded by many angels who show up as friends, amazing doctors, nurses, and caregivers, as well as those who work in the spiritual realm!

I have PT every day… Every tiny win I experience is a victory! From sitting up with no help to turning from side to side in the bed to putting my left tiptoe on the floor, they are all breakthroughs! Everyone tells me l have a grateful, positive attitude. A negative one takes the same amount of energy! So let's rejoice l am alive and on the mend.

The surgeon discussed the X-rays; and apparently, I have more titanium than most Superheros. Once I've gotten into a longer window of PT, I will then in a few months be needing a rightknee replacement.

Dear friends,

Yoka needs our help.

She has NO idea we are launching this campaign on her behalf. Given that her birthday is on April 1st, we would LOVE to share a BIG birthday surprise about the campaign and the monies raised to date.

Yoka is in a unique situation since her current predicament resulted from a solo accident. This means that unlike other individuals in her situation, whom another insured driver may have hit, she is unable to sue and receive millions of dollars. Yoka lives alone and is single, and we hope that she will not lose her home due to being out of work for over eight to potentially twelve or more months. Unfortunately, she only has one living sibling who resides in Canada, so she lacks the support of family in her case.

Let's help Yoka make this the BEST birthday she has ever had to date!

We value whatever you are guided to give.

We would love it if you could share this with your circle of friends.

On behalf of our sweet Yoka, thank you so much for your donations, prayers, visits to see her and beyond!
