Tony Hamilton...Where do I begin? My friend for over 46 years and the friend of so many others for much longer! Tony was the kindest, most loving and caring human on the face of the earth. He never ever met a stranger and from the very first moment you met him it was as if you had known him all of your life. Tony was a hugger...he loved to hug! And not just hug...but squeeze you until you couldn’t breathe and he always made sure he told you he loved you. He made you feel like you were the only person in the room when you were talking to him. He had a smile that was infectious and contagious and you could hear him laugh from a mile away and know it was Tony. He was a big guy with a heart of gold and invested in so many people over the years, I could never list them all here...my life included.
I met Tony my Freshman year (at what was then) Truett McConnell College in Cleveland, GA. We were in the choir together at Truett and having been raised in a music family...I can honestly say that I have never ever heard any one that could sing like him. He had this amazing Baritone Voice that seemed like the very voice of God was coming out of him (look him up on YouTube!) Tony loved God with all of heart and made sure people he met knew Jesus and if not, he was the very first one to do his best to lead them to Christ. So....how do you describe a person like Tony? Well, he was a husband to a beautiful lady, Beverly, Dad to his boys and truly a pastor to his church where he has served faithfully as Assistant Pastor , Worship Leader and Administrative Pastor and now Pastor of 55+ and Pastoral Care at Annistown Road Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, Ga. He was on the Board of Trustees at Truett McConnell College...(now Truett McConnell University) as well as the President of the Alumni Association for many years. Two of those years , I have had the privilege to serve with him. `
The purpose of our gofundme page is twofold: One is to help his precious wife Beverly with expenses that she might incur such as funeral, burial, or any other need she may have in the midst of this sudden and tragic journey that she now finds herself walking. Beverly will be the sole recipient of these funds and are at her disposal at anytime she may need them. And second; to allow those of us who know and knew Tony to be able to have a way to show Beverly how much we love, appreciate and miss Tony. Especially now, in the midst of these times that we find ourselves in where we may or may not be able to attend a memorial service for our dear friend Tony.
Please, if you feel so led to contribute or leave a note or a story or a thought for Beverly please do so. She has complete access to this page and I simply am helping her set it up. The goal we have set is simply a place to start...
Finally, Tony my friend....you maybe gone for now...but NEVER forgotten and always loved! We promise you that your beautiful bride will be cared for, and taken care of just as if you were here. Thank you for your friendship, encouragement, Your BIG OLE SMILE and your heart, especially your voice....So dear friend...
Until we meet again!!
