Friends of Timothy Patrick Humecky
Time to crawl out from under my rock of grief and address what everyone has been wondering since the sudden and devastating death last week of our lifelong friend, Tim Humecky.
To anyone who knew him, Tim was a true friend who gave whatever he had to anyone in need. He never met a stranger; his capacity for compassion and service to others was both considerable and legendary. Those of you who knew Tim also know that he was a dreamer, and he dreamed BIG. When he got his lymphoma diagnosis in July 2019, he met the news with determination to live his remaining years with dignity and in a way that he could teach his son, Wesley, as much as possible in a potentially short amount of time. Life from that point became a fight to hang on to his health, while forever maintaining his eternal optimism and making memories to last Wesley’s possible future without him. In the end, he only got to enjoy two of the twenty years his doctors told him he would probably see.
Tim had nothing saved to cover his final arrangements; his extended family is not only reeling from losing their oldest brother, but they’re also finding themselves scrambling to cover these unexpected expenses. Additionally, Wesley is an adult now, but a brand-new one, at best, and he now finds himself without any financial means. Therefore, we are establishing this fundraising campaign primarily to raise funds to have Tim cremated and interred in the Spruce Grove cemetery in Kasilof, Alaska, with anything left over to be set aside for Wesley.
Please help us give back to the “friend’s friend”, who gave so much to so many over the years, and please share this fundraiser with anyone who you think may want to contribute. This is exactly the kind of thing he would do for any of us. And remember to seize the day--tell your loved ones what they mean to you, and do it often, because sometimes, we really don’t have “all the time in the world”.
