Friends of the Library Fundraiser

Tax deductible
Join me in my journey from Hopkinton to Boston! As a passionate runner, I have always wanted to find a cause to run for. There are many great organizations to champion, but for me, supporting the Friends of the Hopkinton Public Library is my way to contribute to the Hopkinton community and beyond. As a librarian, I see the impacts the Hopkinton Public Library has on our community every day. Without the support of the Friends of the Hopkinton Public Library, the HPL would not be able to offer such dynamic programs and services. Every day, users take out books, use technology, meet to connect with others, or otherwise use the library to scratch an informational or recreational itch they may have. The library is the hub of Hopkinton. It upholds our nation's values by encouraging free speech and expression. It is a place where everyone is welcome regardless of their economic background, country of origin, age, or level of education. It is truly a place for the people of Hopkinton, supported by the people of Hopkinton.

The HPL means so much to me. It was a place I could study during graduate school. It is where my daughter learned to explore her interest for books and science. The Hopkinton public library keeps me grounded and informed. It's where I have made friends and spoken to my neighbors. With all that the Hopkinton Public Library has done for me, it is my time to give back. It is why I am running the Boston Marathon for the Friends of the Hopkinton Public Library. Will you join me in contributing to the Friends, so they can continue to provide the fantastic crafts, fun programs, insightful lectures, and all of the other great things they help the library to accomplish?

More information about me:
I am the Young Adult Librarian at the Hopkinton Public Library, and also serve as logistics Officer for the US Army Reserves in the Deployment Support Command. I grew up running, skiing, and hiking in New Hampshire. During my undergraduate studies at the University of New Hampshire, I was a Division 1 cyclist  and also served as the cycling team's co-president and fundraising manager.  After college and commissioning into the active duty army, I spent many years traveling the globe with my husband where we raced our bikes in as many countries in Europe and Central Asia as we could! Eventually the Army stationed us back in the US, and it was during my time in Ft. Lee, Virginia that I fell in love with trail running and ran my first ultramarathon.  After numerous deployments and the birth of our daughter, we transitioned to the US Army Reserves and settled the Central Valley of California.  Unfortunately, my husband was killed while on a training ride by a distracted driver.  I moved back to New England with my daughter, who was a toddler at the time, to be able to be closer to our family.  We settled in Hopkinton in 2017 thanks to the help of my twin sister, also a Hopkinton resident (and librarian).  Following another deployment, I was accepted to the Simmons University Master's of Library and Information Science program.  After graduation I was hired as Hopkinton Public Library's Young Adult Librarian.  I now enjoy running with my pit-bull   mix, Carl, my daughter, and my partner.
