On the afternoon of August 9th, 2018, someone saw fit to steal our vehicle from in front of our apartment (surprisingly just 6 feet from an open bedroom window). The car was locked, as always, yet they managed to get away in broad daylight without being noticed. The car theft was reported to the police, and approximately 5 weeks later, it was discovered in an old strip mall stripped of its tires, wheels, motor parts, etc. The car was not salvageable, as it would have cost far more to repair than the car was worth.
A serious back injury and subsequent failed surgery in 2008 ended my husband's career, leaving Chuck and I to rely on social security disability, which is currently our sole source of income. The amount we receive barely meets our monthly rent and living expenses. While we are certainly grateful for this, it does not allow us to save anything to put towards a replacement vehicle. As it would be for any of us in current times, a vehicle is a necessity to make doctors appointments, shop for groceries, and so much more. This GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help us get a car and get back on our feet.
In closing, we would like to say thank you, not only to those who would read this and understand our current situation, but also to caring friends that would extend themselves in bringing this avenue and course of action to our attention and our aid... Thank you .
