YOUR HELP IS NEEDED
A member of NCPD family, Karen Basso, a crossing guard at the First Precinct for 27 years, needs your help! Some of you may remember a fundraiser was done 15 years ago for her daughter Joanne. We need our NCPD members to show their generosity again!!
Unfortunately Joanne just recently had to have her second leg amputated due to the rare disease she has, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). RSD is a chronic neuro-inflammatory disorder where the nerves misfire, sending constant pain signals to the brain. She has been in pain and fighting this disease for 26 years!
While we can’t take Joanne’s pain away we can make things financially easier for the Basso family. A new prosthetic leg was bought for Joanne after the first fundraiser which has since cracked. She will now need 2 new prosthetics along with a light weight wheelchair she can handle herself. Joanne, at the young age of 39, has a long road ahead of her learning how to walk with two prosthetics. That’s not even mentioning the fact that she still has RSD and is living in pain every day.
Many of you may not know Karen Basso or her family. We as her friends want to know what an amazing, caring and generous family they are. We are asking for your help to ease some of the financial burden so they can concentrate on Joanne’s recovery. We are hoping the NCPD family can help us!
