Friends of Sarah

Dear Friends & Colleagues 

As many of you already know, our friend and colleague Sarah Doone was involved in a serious accident on Wednesday, July 25th.  

She was run over by a truck in the Old Street roundabout and had to be airlifted to hospital. Sarah has life altering injuries - the doctors had to amputate her left leg but managed to save the right. 

Sarah is facing this new reality with incredible bravery and she's determined to get better soon. The doctors are saying what we all know about her - she's truly exceptional. Sarah's positivity is a testament to her character but she will need to go through months of rehabilitation, physiotherapy and additional treatment.

Although she's been at Aljazeera for a long time and on a regular basis, she is a freelancer and will have no income for this period. 

To help get through this tough time, we have setup a crowd funding page to raise money for Sarah. This will enable Sarah and her family to make necessary adjustments to her flat, get extra help and care and get access to complimentary treatment the NHS might not offer. 

Any contribution will be so valuable and meaningful. We encourage everyone to donate what they feel they can and to spread the word!

We also have fundraisers lined up in the shape of a comedy benefit night, a concert, pub quiz and more - details to follow shortly. If anyone wants to run a marathon, take a three peak challenge, shave their heads or chests or anything else - that would be amazing ! Just get creative :)
