Friends Of Roman

If you live in Great Neck, chances are you’ve met or heard of Roman, Great neck’s favorite wise cracking barber. For decades Roman has serviced our community, cutting hair for husbands, wives and now our children. Few people have ever left Roman’s store without a smile on their face from the jokes he constantly tells.

But now, the smiles are fading. Roman recently revealed that he has been suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis, a severe and delibilating autoimmune disease that attacks the joints and causes painful stiffness and swelling.

Few diagnoses could be worse for a man who stands on his feet and works with his hands all day. Despite the pain, Roman continues to show up to work every week. His work is slower, and he is struggling to provide for his family.

It’s time for our community to step up, to show Roman that he isn’t just a barber, that he is our friend, our neighbor and our family. We need to do what Hashem asks us to do when a fellow Jew is in need.

We’ve started this page in an effort to raise money to help our friend in his time of need. We ask that you give generously, not $25 or $50, but $200 or $500. Whatever you can spare.

We ask that you continue to patronize his business. Be patient with his slower work and be generous with tips.

Great Neck is a wonderful place to live and work, not because of fancy stores but because of the people who live here.

Let us show Roman and each other, the meaning of community.
