Help Protect Your Public Television
WSRE has served Northwest Florida and South Alabama as a trusted public television station since 1967. For nearly six decades, it has provided educational programming, children’s content, cultural storytelling, and community service that many families, educators, and viewers rely on.
Now, we must defend that mission.
The WSRE Foundation has filed legal action to protect funds that were donated by members of the public specifically to support WSRE’s operations and independence. Recent actions by Pensacola State College place those funds at risk of being redirected in ways donors did not intend.
This effort is not about politics or personalities. It is about honoring donor intent, protecting free expression, and ensuring that a community-supported public media outlet remains accessible and accountable to the people it serves.
Why This Matters
As the rightful and duly appointed custodian of the donated funds, the WSRE Foundation is fully committed to protecting the trust of our community and our donors’ intent. They gave in good faith with the understanding that their contributions would be used to support the Foundation’s mission and public educational television. They did not give so their gifts could be swept away and transferred into a government budget. This is the fight to prevent that from happening.
Where Your Contribution Goes
Funds raised through this campaign will be used to defend our ability to continue to fulfill our mission in service to the region. The contributions represent a charitable gift that is an expression of support that protected by the First Amendment.
Please Give and Share
If you believe donor intent matters and community voices should not be ignored, please consider supporting this effort and sharing it with others.
Thank you for standing up for WSRE and the rights of donors like you who support us and believe in the need for our service and programs.
