Friends of Kris Corless

Hi! My name is Sheri and my neighbor Rary and I are working together to raise funds to help our dear friend and neighbor, Kris Corless, make ends meet as she continues to battle stage 4 cancer.

Kris is the strongest person I know. I met her 2 years ago shortly after a diagnosis of terminal cancer. At the time Kris lived in Chicago but visited us in Point Lookout a few times to cross things off of her bucket list before our family "adopted" her in January 2020 and moved her to Long Island to live out her remaining days with sunshine, the beach, friendship and love.

Kris lives at the end of her block and is known by all for her ability to befriend any dog and keep them coming back to her porch daily for treats. Dogs and their walkers alike have gotten to know and love Kris and look forward to their daily visits. Kris lights up the neighborhood with her friendly demeaner, infectious laugh and love of a good time. She has brought neighbors together who didn't know each other and enriched all of our lives with friendship. She reminds us all of what is truly important in this world. The way the Point Lookout and virtual community has come together to support her is one of the most beautiful things I have seen.

A retired school teacher of 40 years, Kris spent her life working with adaptive PE students in the schools and as a 50 year volunteer with the Special Olympics until cancer forced her retirement in 2020. She has spent her life giving to others and it's her turn to receive love and kindness when she needs it most. Can you help us to help her live her best life in whatever time she has left?

Kris has outlived all of her doctors' predictions. They can't explain why she is still here with a heart that is severely damaged from treatments and a body overridden with tumors. We know why she's still here - it is the power of love, friendship and family. And the beauty of Point Lookout - heaven on earth.
