On Tuesday, June 27, our cat Frank was found injured under a neighbor's vehicle. After taking him to the vet for emergency care, we were stunned to learn that Frank had been shot in his head behind his left ear and was suffering neurological effects from the damage the pellet caused. Not knowing if he would survive, Frank was transferred to another emergency vet clinic with neurological specialists on hand to best care for him. After placing him on medication to reduce brain swelling and stablize his vitals, the vets were able to performan an MRI to determine the extent of damage the bullet had caused to his brain stem. At this time, it was determined that surgery would only cause further trauma to the area, although it has not been fully ruled out if Frank does not continue to heal as expected. Frank will require several follow-up appointments with the neurological vet specialist to ensure he's healing as completely as possible. Thankfully, Frank is on the road to recovery and has been cleared to come home. He may live the rest of his life with a wobble to his step and a bit of a head tilt. In the two days since the incident occured, we've spent a over $7000 in vet bills. After an outpouring of support from the community and requests from dozens to assist, we've opened up this GoFundMe to allow those wishing to assist with Frank's recovery.
