Hi, our names are Larry and Diana and we’re helping to raise funds to assist in covering medical and living expenses for our friends, Dean and Garlanda Shockley. Dean was suffering various symptoms and went in for tests. After discovering a tumor on his brain, a biopsy was ordered. During the biopsy a cut was made into the venous tumor which caused a brain bleed and subsequent stroke. The stroke has affected his right side causing limited use of his right arm and right leg. Dean was hospitalized for quite some time and then moved to a therapy unit for a total of 7 weeks. He is now home but doing outpatient therapies. The Glioblastoma has been treated with radiation and chemo and he’s currently doing Optune treatment, which targets the tumor in different ways.
His place of employment has terminated him and his insurance was cancelled. Garlanda is unable to work due to the daily care she gives him.
Dean is a veteran of the Air Force, having served for 10 years. They have both worked hard for years. We, as well as all their friends and family, wish to lighten the load for them as he heals.
